From Crop To Carbon Capture

Advancing the Circular Economy

Every part of the industrial hemp plant is put to use. From the seed for nutrition and biofuel to the stock and leaves which can be transformed biochar that locks carbon into the soil for centuries to eco-friendly products like hempcrete, their zero-waste approach ensures nothing is wasted. This holistic process helps reduce dependence on non-renewable resources while regenerating the earth.

Low Climate and Infrastructure Impact

Unlike tech-heavy carbon capture systems, hemp is a natural climate champion. It grows rapidly, absorbing CO2 twice as efficiently as forests, and requires minimal resources to thrive. Furthermore, hemp’s ability to sequester carbon operates at a higher rate than most plants. Every acre of hemp can potentially store 2–3 tons of carbon in the soil—translating to 7–9 tons of CO2 removed from the atmosphere per acre. This makes their solution scalable, cost-effective, and one of the most efficient ways to combat greenhouse gas emissions.

Giving Back to Communities

At the heart of Hemp Carbon Standard are the farmers who grow industrial hemp. They empower them with new revenue streams by turning their crops into verified carbon removal credits. By supporting sustainable farming practices, they not only helping farmers thrive but also strengthening local economies. Their current geographical scope spans 36 farms across Canada, the U.S., Europe, Africa, and Australia—and is growing rapidly.
