Local forests. Wide impact.
TreeFolks focuses on restoring local forests in flood plains after natural disasters. These forest buffers help mitigate the severity of floods and protect the local ecosystem. Without them, there are higher rates of erosion, more groundwater infiltration, increased stormwater run-off into sensitive waterways, less regional cooling, and destruction of wildlife natural habitats.
TreeFolks is Reforesting Central Texas
TreeFolks is providing reforestation efforts for free on degraded private and public land along creeks, streams, and rivers which grows canopy and ecosystem diversity. On top of that, tending to these degraded forests has led to improved rainfall interception, air quality, and energy savings. They’re also supporting economic growth by sourcing seedlings locally and creating job opportunities.
Project Spotlight: The Central Texas Floodplain Reforestation Project 2023
TreeFolks set out to restore degraded riparian forests that sat on 100-year floodplains. This ecosystem was degraded for a century, and they reforested 59,423 trees across 60 acres of land in Central Texas in under two weeks. Thanks to their work, these parcels of land in Central Texas can be more resilient and the community can play a role in building a more sustainable future.
